Become a Member!

The AEOA needs members to help us make representations to Government seeking more equitable treatment of employee share plans in Australia. To read about what the AEOA can and has achieved, please refer to the About Us menu.

There are many benefits of being a member of the AEOA. Members receive regular updates on employee ownership issues via email, through our monthly electronic newsletter (The Employee Ownership Digest), special events and access to the members section of our AEOA website.

Becoming a part of the AEOA network offers:

  • A network of like-minded people with whom you can exchange ideas, experience and good practices, while helping to grow the number of employee owned businesses and spreading awareness of the sector.
  • An influential way to represent your views to Government and other decision-makers.
  • Access to specialist ESOP advice and advice on tax, legal, employee and finance questions via the associated experts who are part of the AEOA (see the "ESOPs Consultants" page).
  • A voice in the development of the AEOA's lobbying, research and policy work.

The AEOA welcomes membership applications from:

  • Companies with a significant employee ownership stake.
  • Companies which are wholly or majority owned by their employees.
  • Specialist institutions which are supporting and assisting the employee ownership sector, including funders, trade unions and tertiary education establishments.
  • Specialist advisers and consultants to the employee ownership sector.
  • Individuals with an interest in employee ownership.

The AEOA's aim is to create a more productive and equitable economy through building an employee-owned sector.

The Association’s objectives are:

  • To promote the benefits of employee ownership.
  • To encourage research into the productivity impacts of employee ownership.
  • To encourage the development of financial facilities to promote employee ownership
  • To encourage government at all levels to develop taxation and other incentives to promote employee ownership, and
  • To provide services to members.

Members of The AEOA agree to be bound by the rules and objectives of the association when they are joining.

Guidelines on Individual Membership

Individual membership is for people who are interested in employee ownership but would not normally be associated through an "Organisational" membership, be that a company, trade union, educational institution, or consultancy. Principals, owners, managers and officials of organisations with an interest in employee ownership should endeavour to ensure their organisation becomes a member at the appropriate rate.

It is not considered appropriate for individuals to apply as "Individual members" where the company/organisation they are representing would normally be viewed as eligible for "Organisational" membership.
